OK,

The phishing and false registrations have become a total issue. Please send me an email and I will handle it that way for a while. Email can be found on the lubbockoutdoors.org home page.

Anyone is interested in putting together a team for the upcoming “Get Fit Lubbock”. This would be a good event for early season conditioning. The timing is perfect and it will get some exposure for the club and maybe an opportunity to recruit new members.

The tarantula migration is currently happening. Tarantula migration occurs most commonly when males go out in search of potential mates. Male tarantulas are known to travel great distances in order to establish breeding sites. Female tarantulas are less likely to be seen in open spaces, as they tend to reside within terrestrial or arboreal burrows. Following copulation, wandering males quickly depart to avoid becoming the prey of the newly fertilized female.

Paddled the llano river near Juction and fished last weekend. Good fishing but lots of traffic and an extrodinary amount of beer cans from partys ahead of us. Too damn bad. The rest was great. Cheers

It's as green up there as I've ever seen it. Spring rains have the mesquite a neon green. Took the long way to Lighthouse...G.S.L trail, the Little Fox Canyon Loop, then connected to Lighthouse Trail. Decided to climb on the flat top of Castle rock for the first time, and had a rare treat for a spring Sunday. There was a 40 minute window of solitude...not a person in sight. Very nice. Here's a link to a low res video shot from the top of Castle rock, for anybody who hasn't been on it before.

My wife saw her first tarantula on Little Teton that hike. It was pretty funny. I was already on top, and she was coming up the trail barefoot  Grin
She cried out 'it's the biggest spider i've ever seen!'
I trotted back down to her...it was pretty small for a tarantula. She was impressed anyway.

I was expecting water in the creeks...had only been about 2 days since the last rain there. Just mud though. The sandy soil just sucks the water up.
